The university reacted responsibly. A teacher can be a major influence on vulnerable students. Some say a teacher should be judged by his/her teaching ability not on their private life. A teacher is to some, considered a role model and if a teacher whishes to act a way that shouldn’t be promoted to young people, then it should be kept private.
